The story of Wetlands
histoire de Wetlands

September 2001 , Wetlands Engineering was created by its current Director, Mr. Christian-Marie Bols. Its objective is to develop innovative and efficient technologies related to the environment.

July 2003, the company made a significant property acquisition by buying three buildings from Monsanto in Louvain-la-Neuve's scientific park (6,500m² of offices, warehouses, and partially equipped laboratories). It expanded into the property business seeking to reinforce the centre of biotechnologies in the Walloon region. This activity turned out to be profitable very quickly and ensures the company's growth by providing a sound financial base.

One year later, the European SOPHIED project was launched. It brings 26 university and industrial partners together around the following environmental themes: the development of new bioremediation technologies for coloured waste effluents, the development of new enzymes to be integrated into the production of existing dyes, and the development of new, less polluting, dyes with a high added-value.

Wetlands Engineering, deeply involved in the project, became the SME leader.

December 2006, a new European project QUORUM SENSING was created: it seeks to understand the “quorum sensing” of fungal cells through an approach at the molecular level and then pre-industrial.

Today, the company employs more than ten people and has an increasing turnover.
